Regular and reconvened sessions of the Commission
By resolution
1991/39 of 21 June 1991, the Economic and Social Council decided that the Commission should meet annually for a period not exceeding eight working days. The Council also decided that the Commission should establish the Committee of the Whole to examine specific technical items on the agenda referred to it by the Commission, as well as draft decisions and draft resolutions. The Committee of the Whole meets concurrently with the annual session of the Commission for a period not exceeding four working days.
The Council also decided that a reconvened session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs should be held in December of odd-numbered years to approve the budget for the following biennium and the final version of the budget of the Fund of UNDCP for the biennium drawing to a close.
Inter-sessional meetings of the Commission
The inter-sessional meetings of the Commission are convened to finalize the provisional agenda of the Commission; to address organizational and substantive matters; and to provide continuous and effective policy guidance to the Programme.
Informal joint meetings of donor and recipient countries
Pursuant resolution CND 44/16, the Commission on Narcotic Drugs holds regular informal joint meetings of donor and recipient countries on the planning and formulation of the operational activities of the Programme, including projects, taking into account the priorities of all Member States concerned.
