August 2008- Draft Document: UNODC/WHO/UNAIDS Policy Statement on HIV Testing and Counselling in Prison and Other Closed Settings
This document promotes a strategy for improving access to HIV testing and counselling in prisons as part of a comprehensive HIV programme, including information and education; provision of condoms and sterile injecting equipment; drug dependence treatment, in particular, opioid substitution therapy (OST); prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) and HIV treatment, care and support including the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), tuberculosis (TB) and other opportunistic infections (OIs).
